To celebrate the 2026 release of Madge Evers' new book, Printing With the Sun, a how-to book featuring 14 projects exploring the cyanotype process, artist and author Madge Evers will lead a three-hour cyanotype workshop at Dollhouse Blooms . The cyanotype, a camera-less photographic technique developed in 1842, uses a light-sensitive solution, sunlight, and
water to produce striking blue-and-white images on paper or fabric. Both magical and
accessible, the process invites experimentation and offers endless possibilities for
creative expression.

Discover the magic of the cyanotype process in this hands-on class for beginners. We’ll begin with a brief look at the history of the cyanotype process, followed by a demonstration of the tools and techniques used to create these distinctive blue images. Then it’s your turn. With support, each participant will make five botanical cyanotypes on paper to take home. All materials, including pressed plants, will be provided. You are also welcome to bring your own pressed botanicals or objects with interesting shapes and textures to include in your compositions.
